Me encanta leer. Me chifla.

Pone lucKy. ¡LUCKY! Me quedo una k rara y no se ve bien y parece una H. Pero es una K.

BE KIND
To others and to yourselves.

AND BE HAPPY!

May we meet again,

We have known several artists this school year, like:

  • Yaacov Agam
  • Georgia O'Keeffe
  • Pablo Picasso
  • Vincent Van Gogh
  • Roy Lichtenstein
  • Andy Warhol
  • George Seurat
  • Piet Mondrian
And you have done an amazing work in the different activities we have done like the universe, drawing animal eyes, the mosaics or the unfolding surprises!

We even decorated the windows with different sea animals to let everyone know that we don't want plastics in our oceans!

What are we going to do today?

We're going to do a final drawing with a summer design and something you have learnt or liked about this arts & crafts year.

Option 1 - Summer vibes!

1st. Choose a design connected to the summer!

English. Review - Comparatives & Superlatives

English -  Review

Day 3

Comparatives and Superlatives

We use adjectives to describe nouns. For example:

"The 4th Grade students are noisy, naughty, untidy, nervous, lazy, impati

We studied the comparatives and superlatives in class,
do you remember?

The English teacher is the tallest in the class.

The English teacher is faster than the chair but it's the slowest in the class.

The English teacher is ...

The English teacher is THE WORST.

Natural Science - Experiments!

NATURAL SCIENCE

Experiments

In Tuesday's class we did - well, I did - some experiments related to matter and forces.

Some of you texted me after because you wanted to know how to do them.

There are HUNDREDS of experiments really cool to do at home.
I've chosen only 5.

I've looked for some info so you can do them at home.

BE CAREFUL!

and do it under adult supervision.

This blog is FULL of links ;)

Color density tower

Densidad de los líquidos: líquidos en varias capas y colores

You can do it with different liquids that you have at home (soap, honey, milk, water, oil, alcohol...)
but there is another way to do it...

With SUGAR!

Iron Man Science

This is exactly what I did the other day with my jar.

You need iron powder/filings, you can buy it in an ironmongery, for example.

Magnet toys

There are many toys that actually use magnets.
Maybe the most famous one is Geomag

You can build your own tiny games with magnets.

Lava lamps
This experiment is really simple but pretty cool!

You'll need a jar or bottle, water/vinegar, food colouring, oil...
and the 'magic' ingredient: baking soda.

Have a great weekend! :D

#COroN-ARTE: Agamographs

#COroN-ARTE

           AGAMOGRAPHS

This week we're going to do an   AGAMOGRAPHS

An   AGAMOGRAPHS  is a series of images that change at different angles.  When you view the finished agamograph, you’ll see one complete image from one point of view, and the other one from the opposite angle.

This work is named after the artist Yaacov Agam.

So, who is Yaacov?

The interior of the Yaacov Agam Museum of Art (Photo by Shooka Cohen)Yaacov Agam Park West Gallery
Yaacov Agam is an Israeli artist that was born in 1928,  he is 92 years old!!!!

There is a museum dedicated to his art and there is an award created specially for him!

What are we going to do?

We are going to do an  AGAMOGRAPH  choosing the design that you like the most. It can be anything!

Option 1 - Build your own!

1st. Design, draw and colour!

You're going to need 2 pieces of paper (I divided them in 2).

Use the ruler to divide them into rectangles and number them in the correct order.

Draw and colour your designs!
Today is 5th June: World Environment Day!

2nd. Cut each strip!

Yes! Cut them carefully!

3rd. Glue the strips - in order - in the other piece of paper.

For example: 1A-1B-2A-2B-3A-4A...

4th. Fold in an accordion style, front and back.

YOU GOT IT!!!

Option 2 - Using a template!

The steps are mostly the same but you can use a template.

You'll need a printer 😣
(If you don't have one, like your teacher, you can do option 1)

I've found this one for free

There are plenty of designs on the internet to inspire you.

I believe it's always better to do your own :)

Hi there!

I'd love to see your creations! You can send me a pic of your drawing through #Teams or to my email. And if you and your parents agree, I can add it to our Pinterest

Lesson 23. Natural science. Unit 6: Machines

LESSON 23

 NATURAL SCIENCE

MACHINES

Hello matter!

This is the end...  Unit 6: Machines

HOMEWORK

You could do a new front-cover if you want. It's not necessary!

The only theory you should copy in your notebook about this topic is the different types of simple machines and what is a lever, a pulley and an incline plane (1 sentence each!).

Here is the document, with all you need to know about machines :)

Friendly reminder! You have the book pages in #Teams ("Archivos" - "Natural Science" - "Unit 6: Machines")

EXTRA HOMEWORK

Project 1: Build your own simple machine!

1st. Choose your simple machine: a lever, a pulley or an inclined plane.

2nd. Build it! You can make it really simple or more complex, it's up to you!

3rd. Add an image/video of your simple machine to  #Teams

OPTIONAL

This is completely optional.

Project 2: Tell us about your fav inventor/invention!

It can be about an invention or an inventor,
whatever you prefer.

If it's about an invention, tell us: what is it, what is it used for, date of invention, who invented it, why did you choose it, ...

If it's about an inventor, tell us: when and where was she/he born, a little bit about his/her life, inventions, quotes, ...

In any case, you can do a presentation (or not), show us pictures (or not)...

IT MUST BE IN ENGLISH!

And you'll do it in a video call with the teacher and other classmates.
Next Tuesday!

Write the teacher in Teams so she knows you want to do it ;)

Pn: in this video you can see how to build different types of machines!

Reading Monday: Rumpelstiltskin

Reading in English

RUMPELSTILTSKIN

Today we have read together a classic fairy tale
by the Brothers Grimm.

This famous tale was included in the 1812 volume 'Children's and Household Tales by the Brothers Grim (a book that's better known as Grimm's Fairy Tales).

The German brothers not only wrote their own tales, but they also collected the ones the tales people told them.

There are hundreds of different versions of this tale, we have read the one in Oxfordowl ;)

There are movies about this peculiar goblin... And like I said, there's also a Tv-show with him in flesh and bone (GIF) Watch the trailer clicking here --> #OnceUponATime

You can hear the story again in these videos, both in English and Spanish.

Hope you like it!
